Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. é uma organização não-governamental cristã alemã dedicada a programas de serviços médicos e sociais. A organização está a recrutar um Oficial de Segurança Alimentar e Meios de Subsistência (FSL) para apoiar o design e implementação de intervenções agronómicas em Moçambique. O profissional será o ponto focal no terreno para melhorar a produtividade agrícola e a segurança alimentar nas comunidades visadas através de práticas sustentáveis.

Johanniter International Assistance (JIA) is the operational unit for humanitarian aid. The Federal Headquarters (HQ) is based in Berlin, Germany. Overall Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Program Manager – Resilience and Development, the FSL (Food Security and Livelihoods) Officer (Agronomy) will play a critical role in supporting the design, implementation, and monitoring of agronomy-related interventions within the Resilience and Development program. This position aims to enhance agricultural productivity, promote climate-smart agriculture, and improve food security for targeted communities. The Officer will be the focal point on the ground for Johanniter to help coordinate and collaborate with local authorities when required and will work closely with farmers, stakeholders, and local government authorities to ensure effective delivery of sustainable agronomic practices.
What you will do
1. Strategy and Vision
- Actively support the values of Johanniter and thus shapes the country programme accordingly
- Support the development and implementation of the country strategy in line with JIA strategy
- Support the development of long-term programming as well as exit strategies
2. Leadership
- Actively lives and leads by example, upholding the Johanniter leadership principles, supporting wellbeing, and creating a culture where the leadership mindset can emerge and thrive, actively empowering and guiding team members to an inclusive, accountable work environment to achieve shared goals and embrace change. This is reflected in the day-to-day activities in line with the Code
3. Technical responsibilities:
- Leads the design and implementation of sustainable agronomic practices, focusing on improved farming techniques, soil health, pest management, and climate-resilient crops
- Supports the identification and introduction of new agricultural technologies and crop varieties that align with community needs and environmental conditions
- Provides on-the-ground technical support and training to smallholder farmers on best agronomic practices, including seed selection, land preparation, planting, and post-harvest handling
- Develops and facilitate farmer field schools, workshops, and extension services to enhance knowledge and skills in sustainable farming and climate adaptation techniques
- Provides tailored technical guidance to farmer cooperatives and local agribusinesses to improve production, processing, and market access
- Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to create training materials and curricula that reflect local agricultural needs
- Supports the integration of smallholder farmers into market systems by improving value chain linkages, enhancing access to inputs, and promoting sustainable business models
- Identifies market opportunities for agricultural products and work with farmers to improve product quality and competitiveness
- Integrates climate change adaptation strategies into agronomic activities to increase resilience of smallholder farmers against climate-related risks
- Promotes the adoption of disaster risk reduction techniques and support community preparedness for climate shocks affecting agriculture
- Engages actively in the beneficiary selection process under the guidance of the Program Manager
- Monitors the conformity of the field works (trainings, field visits, meeting, etc…)…
